Highlights from the history of the Circus Krone Building On May 10, 1919 on Marsfeld the first Circus Krone Bau was completed. Despite the evening curfews imposed as a result of civil disturbance during the soviet republic the premiere was a full success. In December 1944, three days before Christmas Eve, the timber construction was completely destroyed by aerial bombs. Just one year later, in December 1945, a replacement building was constructed on Marsfeld. Not an elegant building, but an interim solution. The building was likewise constructed of wood. On December 23, 1962, the third Krone Bau dedication took place with city-wide participation. The family Sembach-Krone with 3,000 guests celebrated the gala premiere in the most modern circus building in Europe. Dr. Hans-Jochen Vogel, in 1967, the Mayor of Munich, renamed the adjacent road as Circus-Krone-Straße. |
